There are times when life gets to us and all we need is a stronghold…a place to go when we are facing trouble.
Bible Verse
Psalms 9:9-10 9 The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; 10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Stronghold
When we feel oppressed and beaten down, God will be our stronghold. In times of trouble, God will be our stronghold. To have access to this stronghold requires but one thing. We must seek Him and put our trust in Him. That sounds like two things, and maybe it is. But one leads to the other. When we seek God, we learn to put our trust in Him. We trust Him because we seek Him. God does not forsake those who seek Him and trust in Him. Quite the contrary. God will protect His children from anyone and anything at all times. That God provides strength for His children in their times of trouble is the one thing to which we can always cling.
Application
I have experienced a lot of the trouble and turmoil that the world has to offer. The good news is that there is nothing new under the sun. People have been dealing with variations of these troubles for generations, I would hazard to say, from the beginning of time. When trouble confronts us, it can be easy to look to the world for solutions. That is what the world wants. And it will cause us to fall deeper into trouble and turmoil. What God requires is that we put the world aside and seek Him. It takes a conscious determination on our part, at least it does for me. And when we are determined to seek Him and trust Him, we find Him. And when we find Him, He will be our stronghold, the stronghold that can get us through any challenge we face…no matter how difficult.

Prayer
Lord, today I face turmoil and trouble. Teach me to seek You and trust You. Please be my stronghold in this challenging season of life.
